Daniel Sieberg, is a senior-level marketing executive, entrepreneur and best-selling author/speaker/journalist who has traveled to ~70 countries during his time at companies including Google, Civil, CBS News, ABC News and CNN.
As a former senior Google marketing executive/spokesperson for six years Daniel built two global teams in service of innovation, news and civics. He was previously the science and technology correspondent for the likes of CNN, ABC News and CBS News (nominated for five national News & Documentary Emmy Awards 2008-2010; Webby Honoree in 2011; shared DuPont and Peabody Awards in 2003 and 2005). He is also the author of “The Digital Diet” (Crown, 2011) and started his career at the Vancouver Sun. His interview subjects include Steve “Woz” Wozniak, Bill Gates and Will Wright. In 2007 he was named a “Business Broadcasting All-Star” by Portfolio magazine and in 2008 he was part of the National Academy of Engineering’s Global Challenges Project. He has also done extensive contract work for HPE, SAP and the World Technology Network/Awards.
After co-founding Civil, a blockchain-based journalism platform, Daniel led his own startup in the XR/AI space (hardware/software) and advises others including Ground.news, Proof, alley-oop and Pressland. He often does public speaking (e.g. The Leadership Network, Google) and moderating (e.g. World Science Festival, World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), HPE) and is on the Board of Trustees at Saybrook University based in Pasadena. He also does pro bono media relations work for the NY chapter of the American Red Cross and leads communications for the nonprofit First Street Foundation.
Daniel is a graduate of Google’s LEAD program on leadership for senior marketing executives and has appeared numerous times across media including MSNBC, BBC America, Good Morning America Weekend, the Washington Post, the New York Times and The Dr. Oz Show. He has conducted extensive presentations across a wide variety of topics from IoT to AI to healthcare trends and moderated numerous events as well; his public speaking is managed by Celebrity Speakers. In Oct. 2019 he was invited to the curated HATCH Summit in Montana.
Daniel believes in integrous, inclusive and accountable leadership in business that empowers others to achieve and execute beyond their perceived limitations. A bold listener. And he’s never afraid to get his hands dirty (his first job was at McDonald’s). He enjoys cycling, running, writing, sampling coffee from around the world, volunteering and spending as much time as possible with his two daughters. His mantra: think in pencil, live in pen. He is the son of an executive admin to the VP of the Provost (UVic) and an electrical engineer who began with a career in particle physics (UBC) but then moved to oceanography (IOS) and helped scientists study climate change for 30 years; Daniel’s sister is an R.N. and pharmaceutical adviser.
