Founder of Turkey’s first Quantum Technologies Lab, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afif Sıddıki studies quantum physics both on academic level as well as our daily lives. Within this context, he shares his insights on the physiology and psychology of perception in decision making mechanisms with individuals and organisations to help them create efficient working places. His works on how quantum computing will shape our future are followed by a large audience.

What he offers
How he presents
Sıddıki reflects the concepts of quantum physics and the ways to apply these concepts to our lives in a way that can be clearly apprehended by the audience.
Assoc. Prof. Afif Sıddıki was born in Ankara, 1973. He graduated from ITU Physics Engineering Department (B.Sc.), Bilkent University Physics Department (M. Sc.) and moved to METU as a research assistant for a year. In year 2001 he went to Germany to work in Prof. Dr. Klaus von Klitzing’s (1985 Nobel Laureate) group as a research assistant at Max-Planck Institute and became a Ph. D. candidate at Würzburg University Physics and Astronomy Department, graduating in year 2005. He conducted his post-doctoral research in Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich, Solid-state Physics department both at Prof. Dr. Jan von Delft’s (theoretical) and Prof. Dr. Jörg Kothaus groups (experimental). In year 2008, he moved to Muğla University as an assistant professor. He was invited to Harvard University as a visiting scientist in 2010, till he was invited to Istanbul University Physics Department to build “quantum technologies laboratory” as an Assoc. Prof. In 2014 he went back to Munich and performed experiments for a year and afterwards he came back to Turkey to Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. In year 2017 after his mother passed away he resigned from the University and started to live Akyaka, his beloved paradise. He has more than 80 scientific publications with more than 400 citations and also gave 300+ invited talks, seminars up to now. Being an art enthusiastic, he plays guitar and clavier and has approximately 40 compositions. In addition, he is giving seminars on basics of quantum mechanics at primary, secondary and above grade schools to contribute young people in improving their interest to science and arts. Being the director of a personal company established in 2017, he is providing consultancy in engineering till now.
